Was it Hamilton’s victory or Vettel’s loss?
It seemed like Sebastian Vettel would walk the last race, flag-to-flag victory, but it didn’t turn out that way. His rear tyre let go two corners into the first lap. Because of this Lewis Hamilton took, what looked like, an easy victory.
News reports out this week speculated that Hamilton was back in action and looked set to take the victory in the last race in Brazil, I’m not so sure. Would he have won had the Red Bull retired on the first lap?
I know I predicted that he would win but that was before I saw Vettel’s qualifying performance, he has been mega this whole season. However, as you know, I’m a fan of Hamilton and have said on a number of occasions that he needs to focus on next season and forget about this one.

The problem can come that he can get cocky again and mess his changes of getting next season off to a flyer. Off course this all depends on McLaren-Mercedes. Will they give him a car capable of winning next season? We will only know at the first race of 2012. It has been a while since they won both championships, the lat being in 2008 with Hamilton.
I believe Hamilton’s win was more Vettel’s loss. We will have to see in Brazil if the loss affected him. I believe it wouldn’t have. Vettel came back strong after he had an accident in Canada this year.
Yes, the fact that he had the best car on the grid did help, but look at his teammate Mark Webber. He has the same car and to my horror he has not been performing this season. Next season will come down to who is mentally stronger.
Hamilton’s plight has not been helped by his teammate Jenson Button. He has done everything right this season. He has kept his head down and moulded the team around what he wants. Hamilton didn’t do it, but it looks like he is starting to get his act together.
Bring on Brazil…
