Open letter to the President
Mr President,
Signs of corruption, patronage, favouritism outright theft and fraud are now a daily occurrence and permeate all branches of Government, the Police and other agencies of Government.
The weekend revelations of Malema’s trust account, his unhealthy relationship with the Limpopo Premier, Cassel Mathale merely add weight to that which we taxpayers already suspected; that your Government is corrupt to the core.
Likewise with the six-rank leapfrogging of Thulani Shabalala who had been best man at General Bheki Cele’s wedding and the stench of corruption surrounding the two police property deals. Clearly the police service too needs a radical overhaul.
It seems clear that the corrupt now believe they can act with impunity; they clearly believe you cannot, or will not act against them.
Yet Mr President, I believe that the vast majority of members of the ANC are as aghast, angry and scared as I am by the increasing signs of corruption within the ranks of the previous august and rightly proud ANC. They, like me now expect you to act, and act decisively.
First and foremost you are President of our country, of which we all want to feel proud and to which we as taxpayers all fund. We are “gatvol” of the seemingly unending tales of corrupt practices and are looking to you to both re-establish a moral tone and authority and to clearly indicate that this behaviour is unacceptable.
That the crime is not being caught, but the crime itself; therefore shunting off miscreants to postings such as Ambassador to Japan is not a solution.
Rather the culprits must be rooted out, charged, and after due process convicted and all their ill-gotten, stolen corrupt gains returned to the Fiscus.
Particularly at a time when taxpayers are being asked to foot increase after increase in Government administered tariffs, road tolls and will be asked to dig deep for coming National Health initiatives, we find it scandalous to learn of the rampant theft from the public purse. What we know of course is just the tip of the iceberg; the rot goes deep and into all branches of Government. You must empower all of your Ministers to likewise step up to the plate and wield the big stick.
Mr President – cometh the hour, cometh the man. We expect you to live up to the proud traditions of the ANC and to now act decisively; and should you so do you will be surprised at the amount of goodwill, support and gratitude you will get both from within your Government, your alliance partners, grass-roots ANC supporters as well as citizenry the length and breadth of the country.
Mr President, the time for decisive action is now.

I suspect you speak on behalf of most of us, Mr Quirk. Did you actually send this to the President, or is this for your readers’ eyes only?

We pay our taxes religiously, yet we see people homeless and starving!
HEAR OUR VOICES ZUMA!

Sorry but it’s all hot air and no-one is listening, especially coming from a white man, no matter your reputation. There has to be another way of getting the message across and it has to come from the grassroots of our population. But how to motivate them?

What a great letter. However, most of us believe that politics will influence Mr Zuma’s response to the rampant corruption in our country. I hope that I am wrong and that he takes action, thereby upholding the example of the great men that have led the ANC in the past.

Cry the beloved country. Only cry in one voice against the corruption so that someone will hear our anguish.

The man has no perpspective of right and wrong, therefore he never lies or misleads as he does no wrong in his own myopic eyes. He is the one-eyed king, leading the blind youth and uneducated masses, kicking sand into the eyes of the ANC 90lb weaklings and giving the educated minority the finger. He is a bit like Winnie on acid, better to have him in the tent peeing out, than out the tent peeing in, as well as being an integral part of the team involved in the systemic looting of countries coffers.
After seeking counsel from Mugabe one can only shudder to think what his master plan is.

OK, so what do we ‘normal’ citizens do?
