Someone asked me recently what was the use of generating conversations online when the real world is not a vicarious mix of salacious uselessness but people controlling real dollars and gold and our comments online amounted to whispering near a Tiger tank.
That’s not true. In a word.
Wikileaks. Even if the evidence grows its not actually hurting the US. Its hurting America’s allies who’ve been yanking its chain and taking its dosh. Like Italy and Saudi Arabia, and Canada. And Israel, and how about Turkey? But lets stay on the subject for the moment. Since Wiki started leaking things have looked up for the Americans…
Ahem.
Back to the point.
When confidential military documents start moving around the globe there are some who believe this is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and others who believe its a waste of time. As long as you print out the documents or take the time to read the data, you’ll be empowered.
While its true that when the electricity is off, digital media is off, its also harder to remove the power from the system than it initially appears. Because its only a mechanism of exchange of meaning. It’s not the meaning itself.
And more importantly, our senses absorb the information immediately. Most of the detail disappears, but the intrinsic communication burns into our minds. Forever.
No regime can expunge that from your mind. Many have tried and failed.
